Performing into the Future
Overview
The Corn Exchange has been a hub for the Cambridge community for 150 years. As a centre for culture, the venue showcases the latest up and coming stars and provides opportunities to introduce the arts to the next generation.
Exchanging Stories
To mark the 150th anniversary, the Corn Exchange spent six months working with local schools on creative writing inspired by the building’s history. It is with thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund that the Corn Exchange has been able to work with the Cambridge Literary Festival, local authors, and school children from Cambridge to compile this collection. This book, Exchanging Stories, celebrates the past, present and future of this historic building.
150th Anniversary Performance
In partnership with DanceEast and dance specialists Anatomical, shared their passion and expertise with pupils across the city with a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Marking the Corn Exchange’s 150th birthday on the 6 November 2025, 342 local young people took to the stage. In front of a sold-out audience, these young performers honoured an iconic past while offering a glimpse of its future.
The Corn Exchange reminds us that history is not something behind us, but something we love and build upon...As a parent, seeing the children's faces light up with wonder and joy as they took part in the celebrations was truly special.
