Overview

Christmas is coming to the Corn Exchange, bringing a wonderful mix of festive favourites, spectacular performances, and seasonal celebrations. From glittering orchestras and timeless traditions to rousing singalongs and laugh-out-loud comedy, there’s something to get everyone into the Christmas spirit this season.

For those who love a touch of old-fashioned Christmas swagger, there’s a nostalgic nod to the golden age of swing. Tony Hadley, with his unmistakable voice and effortless showmanship, brings The Christmas Big Band Tour, while the magnificent 30-piece Down For The Count Swing Orchestra return with Swing Into Christmas.

Just like any good family Christmas, the celebrations wouldn’t be complete without a little mischief and merriment! Multi-platinum Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies bring their trademark wit and infectious energy with The Yuletide Ride, a playful take on Christmas classics and festive favourites. The joyous celebrations continue with Step Into Christmas, promising much-loved hits, and plenty of audience participation, while Christmas in Ireland serves up a hearty helping of Irish hospitality, with traditional music, storytelling and plenty of good cheer.

There’s plenty more nostalgia and laughter to unwrap. Viral sensation James B. Partridge takes audiences back to the school halls of Christmases past with The Big Christmas Assembly, before the humour takes a decidedly more grown-up turn with Live at Christmas with Nina Conti, featuring the award-winning ventriloquist alongside a stellar comedy line-up featuring John Kearns, Bridget Christie and Toussaint Douglass.

For those seeking something a little gentler, there are moments of ethereal beauty and quiet wonder. Affectionately known as the Barnsley Nightingale, beloved folk singer Kate Rusby brings her enchanting renditions of traditional Yorkshire carols and seasonal songs, while acclaimed folk ensemble The Unthanks capture the haunting beauty of the winter months with their atmospheric concert The Unthanks In Winter.

And what would Christmas be without a few cherished traditions? The world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates with a joyful rendition of much-loved modern classics including favourites from The Snowman and Home Alone. The programme concludes with two beloved ballets The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, to round of the year in spectacular style.

Whether you’re planning a festive family outing, an evening of laughter or a night of unforgettable live music, there’s plenty to tuck into this Christmas.
