Milos Karadaglic plays Rodrigo

Sat 15 June

Milos

One of the hottest properties in classical music, chart-topping guitarist Miloš Karadaglic gives an unmissable performance of virtuoso guitar classics. He has recently won two Gramophone Awards including Young Artist of the Year, a Classical Brit Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and has sold out London’s Albert Hall.

The Rodrigo guitar concerto is one of the most romantic pieces of classical music to come out of Spain, written by the blind composer Joaquin Rodrigo.  The poignant second movement is one of the most famous classical music melodies recognised the world over.

The concert is conducted by the leading Spanish conductor Jaime Martin and features works inspired by the Mediterranean.  The concert starts with Rossini's exciting Italian Girl in Algiers overture and is followed by De Falla's elemental Ritual Fire Dances.  After the performance of the Rodrigo, in the second half Miloš Karadaglić will perform Piazzolla's highly evocative Libertango arranged for solo guitar and orchestra.

The evening will be brought to a rousing conclusion with Mendelssohn's much loved Italian symphony.  All this will be performed by one of the country's most distinguished orchestras, the English Chamber Orchestra
