Fireworks Seek Sparkling Saviour

Fireworks
Cambridge City Council is appealing to a local business to partner with them on ensuring the success of the city's annual Bonfire Night display, the region's largest and most spectacular free display which has been running as the Council's flagship free community event for over 15 years.

The event attracts in the region of 30,000 local people to Midsummer Common every November 5th to enjoy the fireworks and has live coverage by BBC Look East.

The Council are extremely grateful to the support of the Marshall Group of Companies who supported the fireworks in 2009 ensuring that the display was of an extremely high quality and free to everyone to attend during these difficult financial times.

Cambridge City Council maintains the importance of this event as free provision for the community which champions community safety but in these difficult times, the lack of a corporate sponsor will mean scaling back the nature of the event to avoid putting it in jeopardy.

Marshall's sponsorship in 2009 demonstrated the positive impact that a sponsor's involvement can have on the quality of these activities with the display being regarded as one of the best since the event has been running.

Any local business interested in offering support to the event is encouraged to contact Elaine Midgley, Development Manager on 01223 457592 elaine.midgley@cambridge.gov.uk
